Ode to the Morally Gray "Heroes"

The reason we love the Villain is because the Hero would sacrifice you to save the world, but the Villain would sacrifice the world to save you...I can't remember where I heard this...probably Tik Tok or something. So to honor the villains we love to hate, I have compiled four books with some of my favorite morally gray characters. Scroll down...seriously...do it.

If you are the type of person that looks at a long list of trigger warnings and it might as well be a positive book recommendation, I see you (cause same) and you might love these picks!

1. Descent by Sam Mariano

If Calvin Cutler is Morally Gray, then he's on the verrrrrry far end of the gray scale, like one shade off from Black. He sees what he wants and there is no line he won't cross to get it; the type of man you like to read about but would run the opposite direction if you encountered him in real life...probably. Look below if you want to know which red flags you can look forward to in this book.

The Book "Descent" by Sam Mariano Dark Romance about a Morally gray character
"His answer is simple. 'I don't accept answers I don't like'"

Book Elements

NonCon, Drugging, Somnophilia, Stalking, Manipulation, Birth Control Tampering, Breeding, Possessive Male Lead, Dirty Talk, Exhibitionism.

Tropes

Millionaire Romance, Forced Proximity, Obsessive male lead,

2. King of Flesh & Bone by Liv Zander

Book 1 of 2 in "The Pale Court" series

Enosh is a vengeful, ruthless God on a mission to punish humankind after enduring unfathomable cruelty at their hands. More villain than hero, he holds complete control over the flesh and bone of the dead. Enosh rules the Pale Court (think Hades in the underworld); when a live human woman named Ada accidentally crosses his threshold, he realizes very quickly that he would do anything to keep her there...like breaking her legs so she can't leave type of anything. He is slightly unhinged, arrogant and unapologetically amoral. Once you finish this book, there is more depraved fun in the sequel (you're welcome).

Morally gray Character Enosh, God Of death from Dark Fantasy Romance "King of Flesh and Bone" .
"Worse than a God in rage, is a God in love"

Book Elements

Tropes

Dark Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Captive Romance, Gods-Goddesses

3. Fear Me, Love Me by Lilith Vincent

What's not to love about having the attention of a psychopathic crime lord?

Tyrant Mercer is entirely unhinged; I guess the author was inspired by Jareth the Goblin King from the movie Labyrinth...and yes, he does have a labyrinth. His path has crossed 19 year old Vivienne's more than once and he becomes obsessed with her, willing to do anything for her and anything to keep her (are you sensing a theme here?). I mean he graciously offered his dick as a pacifier to soothe her out of a panic attack; if thats not love, what is?

Morally Gray Character from the Dark Mafia Romance "Fear Me, Love Me"
"I want you swollen with my baby, a ring on your finger, and living in my house..."

Book Elements

DubCon, Somnophilia, Forced Breeding, Blood play, Knife play, Birth Control Tampering, Spanking, Degradation, Violence, Stalking, Somnophilia, Cock Warming.

Tropes

Age Gap, Mafia/Organized Crime, Touch her and Die, Possessive Male Lead, Virgin Heroine.

4. Twist Me by Anna Zaires

Book 1 of 3 in the Twist Me Series

Continuing on our theme of "no heroes here", Julian, the main male character in this book may be the least dubiously villainous man in this entire post, and by that I mean he is simply a villain. I don't know how Anna Zaires got me to love him but she did, apparently abduction, captivity, non-con, discipline and manipulation are not enough of an issue for me... but I don't need to dwell on that too long. If you have ever fantasized about being kidnapped, brought to a remote island to be kept and used to fulfill *ehemm...the proclivities of a sexy, possessive, millionaire with no boundaries and a lot of baggage...escape into this series.

Cover of "Twist Me" a Dark Captivity Romance about a Morally gray character

Tropes

Abduction/Captivity, Age Gap, Virgin MFC, Possessive Male Lead
